About DIIRD

The Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD) is the Victorian Government's lead agency for economic and regional development, and is instrumental in building an innovative state. The formation of the department reflects the increasing emphasis the government places on innovation as a key driver of future economic success.

Areas of responsibility

DIIRD Business Units operate across the areas of innovation, industry and regional development to ensure a standard approach to key strategies and objectives.

Department structure

To achieve the Government's economic goals and strategic objectives, the department is divided into eleven organisational divisions. DIIRD also has an interest in eight other organisational bodies and Victoria's TAFE network.

Ministerial Overseas Travel

As part of his commitment to strengthen accountability in Victoria, the Premier committed to releasing quarterly reports that detail the costs and benefits associated with Ministerial overseas travel.
