In October 2007, the Victorian Government commissioned the NOUS Group to undertake an independent review of the Victorian Screen Industry, the first step in developing a new major strategy to continue growing Victoria's screen industry.

The Review has now been completed and the final report is available here to download.
The Government is now using the review to develop the Victorian Screen Industry Strategy, part of the Brumby government’s commitment to supporting and enhancing the capabilities, sustainability and growth of the Victorian screen industry.
The strategy is integral to enhancing Victoria's competitive advantage as a screen production hub and in enabling the local industry to position itself more strategically within the global screen industry. This is imperative in a time when the industry is facing changes in consumer behaviour, shifting global markets and the impact of digital media.
As a part of the strategic positioning, the Government is also currently working to ensure the Victorian strategy complements the revised Screen Australia program guidelines so that areas identified as priorities by the local industry are supported and Victorian screen practitioners are able to effectively leverage the opportunities available in the revised Screen Australia programs.
The Government looks forward to releasing the Victorian Screen Industry Strategy in mid-2009. It is anticipated some short-term strategies may be rolled out in 2009.
