Tim Holding is the Minister for Tourism and Major Events.  He is also the Minister for Finance, WorkCover and the Transport Accident Commission, and the Minister for Water.

Mr Holding was first elected to Parliament in 1999, and currently represents the Legislative Assembly seat of Lyndhurst in Melbourne's south east.

Tourism and Major Events

As Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Mr Holding oversees an industry that is worth around $11 billion annually and generates around 160,000 jobs across Victoria. The major events sector is worth around $1.2 billion annually and attracts 230,000 international visitors to the State each year.

Victorian Government policies and programs to grow the tourism and major events sector are delivered by key bodies in Mr Holding's portfolio, including Tourism Victoria, the Victorian Major Events Company, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau.

These policies and programs are focused on Government priorities such as targeting emerging international and niche markets, boosting aviation access to Victoria, growing regional tourism, attracting more business conferences and exhibitions, developing Victoria’s events industry and strengthening industry skills and service standards.

These initiatives are developed and delivered within the overall framework of the 10-Year Tourism and Events Industry Strategy, which aims to grow tourism in Victoria to an $18 billion industry, generating 225,000 jobs by 2016.
