Strategy and Coordination

The Strategy and Coordination Division provides strategic policy, planning, coordination and Ministerial services to and for the Department.  It is organised into three groups:

Strategic Policy Branch provides the strategic policy context for the Department and leads and coordinates the Department's research and policy agendas and activities.

Strategic Planning and Ministerial Services Branch drives the integrated planning cycle, including preparation of the Department's strategic and business plans, the annual budget strategy and the evaluation framework, and provides and coordinates Ministerial support to all DIIRD Ministers including through the Cabinet and Parliamentary processes.

Climate Change Unit provides expert advice on and coordinates the Department’s engagement with the Victorian Government's climate change agenda.

Strategy and Coordination Division is integral to driving the Department's and the State's economic development agenda, the coordination of the whole-of-Department policy agenda, management of the Integrated Planning Cycle, the Ministerial interface; and developing the Department's strategic and business planning, budget strategy, governance and evaluation processes.

The Division has primary responsibility for:

  • development, through the Strategy and Management Team, and management of
    the Department's policy and research agendas
  • leading the development of high level polices and strategies
  • coordinating the Department’s policy activities
  • providing interpretation and analysis of the environment for Victorian economic development to inform strategic planning and policy development
  • leading and coordinating the department’s engagement in the Victorian response to climate change
  • driving the integrated management cycle, including budget strategy and strategic planning
  • developing and implementing the Departmental evaluation framework
  • providing and coordinating Ministerial services and support to all DIIRD Ministers
  • overseeing the management and good governance of the Department’s statutory organisations
