Industry and Trade has the role of focusing on the development of sustainable, growth oriented industries by specialised sector engagement, investment attraction & facilitation, along with export development initiatives and assistance. It has primary responsibility for:
The head of Industry and Trade reports to the Secretary, is a member of the Senior Executive Team and primarily supports the Minister for Industry and Trade.
Industry and Trade comprises five branches – Policy & Planning branch, three Industry Development teams, and Invest Assist.
The Industry Development teams are responsible for sector development including investment attraction and export development across all industry sectors and will manage and coordinate engagement with the other Divisions across the Department.
Policy & Planning branch will research and develop industry policy in collaboration with the Strategy & Coordination division. The branch will also manage and coordinate the development and maintenance of a suite of industry sector plans.
Invest Assist comprises the functions of facilitation of key investment projects, Tiger Teams and manages and facilitates strategic infrastructure and investment projects.
