The Department’s Disability Action Plan (DAP) has been launched.
The plan outlines the Government’s vision regarding our future for people with a disability. It also brings together the principles of equality, dignity and self-determination (choice), diversity and non-discrimination.
DIIRD has a strong commitment to its disability action plan, which has six main goals:
- provide opportunities for people with a disability to obtain employment and develop careers
- improve staff awareness and understanding of the needs of people with a disability
- develop accessible information and communication processes
- provide opportunities for people with a disability to participate in consultation and decision making processes
- ensure programs and services are accessible to people with a disability
