BioGrid Australia, which will roll out statewide and then national online research and treatment databases for cancer and then other diseases, is officially launched today by the Minister for Innovation Gavin Jennings
BioGrid Australia is an initiative of the Australian Cancer Grid which received $11 million in funding through the Victorian Life Sciences Statement Healthy Futures.
BioGrid Australia is an advanced ICT – driven technology platform with databases providing de-identified clinical data, including treatment, outcomes, diagnostic images and related analytical tests, linked with research data, such as genomics.
It will be rolled out across all metropolitan and regional cancer centres and cover five cancer areas. This will establish a leading-edge grid application that can then be rolled out to other states and into non-cancer areas.
