The economic statement, Victoria: Leading the Way, released by the Government on 20 April 2004, is a key economic statement that aims to make Victoria a competitive force in the global marketplace.
Action plan that proactively positions Victoria to meet the challenges of a global economy while continuing to deliver thriving innovative industries
There are several initiatives in the statement that are of direct relevance to DIIRD including:
- the establishment of Invest Victoria
- the Opening Doors to Export Plan to achieve export targets
- increasing the efficiency of supply chains
- the Victorian Business Master Key initiative which will allow businesses, especially start-ups, to manage all dealings with Government through a personalised online filing system
- the Next Generation Food Strategy which will help build an innovative, competitive food industry
- phase two of the 'Make it Happen in Provincial Victoria' campaign
DIIRD also welcomes participation from the public and industry members when developing future directions and statements. Discussion papers and Statements are regularly published on this or the Business Vic website.
