The Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD) has 11 Divisions, or business areas, that work closely together to achieve the objectives and strategies outlined in the Strategic Directions document.
Corporate Services and Development has the role of developing the organisation and provides systems, services and infrastructure to support line Divisions in their ability to deliver core services to clients.
The Economic Infrastructure Division’s core responsibility is to ensure that the interests of industry are acknowledged in the development of infrastructure, infrastructure markets and business regulation.
The Industry and Trade Division has the role of focussing on coordinating the development of sustainable industries that are growth orientated and export focussed, through investment attraction and export facilitation.
The role of the Innovation and Technology Division is to advise and implement the Victorian Government’s innovation and information and communication technology policies, initiatives and programs.
Well planned and high quality infrastructure projects also play a key role in Victoria’s ability to attract international investment across a diverse range of sectors and industries and in maintaining and further improving Melbourne’s renowned liveability.
The Policy and Coordination division is integral to driving the Victorian economic development agenda, the coordination of the whole-of-department policy agenda, management of the Integrated Planning Cycle, the Ministerial interface; and development of the department’s strategic and business planning, budget strategy, governance and evaluation processes.
Regional Development Victoria (RDV) facilitates economic and community development in regional and rural Victoria to create a prosperous and growing provincial Victoria.
Skills Victoria provides strategic advice and analysis of Victoria’s skills need, and acts as the system managers for the vocational education and training sector.
Tourism, Aviation & Communications promotes Victoria as a great place to live, work, invest, visit, and pursue an education. The markets the DIIRD brands and programs.
Workforce Victoria (formerly Industrial Relations Victoria) focuses on two major policy areas: workplace industrial relations and workforce participation. These are essential foundations for supporting communities, ensuring long-term economic growth and attracting investment to the State.
There are four major bodies associated with DIIRD and a further 15 assocations of significance.
