Tourism, Aviation & Communications

Purpose

Tourism, Aviation & Communications promotes Victoria as a great place to live, work, invest, visit and learn, and markets the DIIRD brands and programs. It has primary responsibility for:

  • developing marketing policy and strategy for all DIIRD brands
  • delivering marketing activities across all divisions. These marketing activities include campaigns, product development, events and e-marketing. 
  • developing Victoria as a premium tourist destination for Australian and international travellers

Structure

The Tourism, Aviation & Communications Division is comprised of two main Branches and three major units within the Tourism Division:

Tourism Victoria

Tourism Victoria is responsible for all the legislative commitments specified under the Tourism Victoria Commission Act 1992.

Strategy and Policy

Strategy and Policy is responsible for development of whole-of-department marketing policy, in addition to tourism policy and major events policy.

Marketing the State

Marketing the State nationally and internationally by developing programs and strategies relating to National Trade marketing, International marketing, Familiarisations, Regional marketing, E-marketing, Brand Services, Events and Product marketing

Aviation

Aviation is involved in all aspects of commercial air services into Victoria, interaction with airlines, airports, maintenance and repair operations, the Commonwealth Government, and education and training bodies. The aviation unit is also responsible for developing Victoria as a centre for aviation services and training capability.

Strategic Communications

Strategic Communications is responsible for delivering effective and cohesive departmental communications.
