Industry & Trade
The head of Industry and Trade reports to the Secretary, is a member of the Senior Executive Team and primarily supports the Minister for Industry and Trade.
Purpose
The Industry and Trade Division has the role of focussing on coordinating the development of sustainable industries that are growth-oriented and export-focussed through investment attraction and export facilitation. Primary responsibilities of the Division include:- The strategic development of the financial services and automotive industries
- Generating new investment leads and attracting international investment
- Managing DIIRD’s investment processes and protocols
- Maintaining generic capability to support and manage a range of legacy programs across manufacturing and service industries, and to be responsive to industry matters that do not fit into the core sector capabilities
- Encouragement and support of the participation of Victorian firms in international business through facilitating a range of export programs and services
- driving significant growth in exports through integrated sector export initiatives
- Advocating activity in the development of effective industry policy in cooperation with Strategic Policy
- Providing direction of Investment and Trade priorities
- Forming a generic “Promote and Position Victoria” concept
- Managing the investment pipeline
- Providing project management and support for Ministerial visits and trade missions
