International Coordination
Purpose
The International Coordination Division is responsible for the whole of Victorian Government framework guiding Victoria’s overseas relationships, as set out in the Premier’s Seizing Global Opportunities statement of October 2007.At the centre of the Division is the new International Coordination Office (ICO). The ICO provides the means for Victorian agencies and organisations to work together in pursuit of their international goals. It has primary responsibility for:
- coordinating whole-of-Government international business
- advising on and communicating the Government’s key objectives and priorities, through policy and the annual Premier’s Directive
- managing the network of Victorian Government Business Offices overseas, including in relation to the appointment and performance of the Commissioners for Victoria
- advising the Government on major international developments impacting Victoria
- providing secretariat support to the Premier’s Business Leaders Advisory Board
- coordinating Government international travel, including high level contacts and Ministerial visits
- coordinating business leveraging from major events in Victoria
Structure
The International Coordination Division has four Branches
Office of the Deputy Secretary
The Office of the Deputy Secretary which manages the Division.
International Coordination Office (with Victorian Government Business Offices)
The Internatinal Coordination Office (ICO) includes the network of Victorian Government Business Offices overseas, is responsible for the direction, coordination and facilitation of the Victorian Government’s activities overseas. The ICO also advises and reports on Ministerial overseas travel and coordinates business leveraging from major events in Victoria.The International Education Unit
The International Education Unit works with providers of post school international education services and the Australian Government to support the growth of the sector.
The Defence and Aerospace Unit
The Defence and Aerospace Unit works with the Australian Government and companies in the defence and aerospace sectors to grow the level of activity and employment in Victoria.
