The Hume Strategy
The Hume Strategy for Sustainable Communities (the Hume Strategy) is a key initiative of the Hume Regional Management Forum (Hume RMF).
The Hume RMF comprises state government Regional Managers, local government CEOs, statutory authorities' regional managers and a Commonwealth Government representative. One of the key functions of the Hume RMF is to work across government to design and manage strategies of region-wide significance.
In 2007 the Hume RMF identified the need for an integrated long term plan to build on the region's competitive advantages, manage growth and develop sustainable communities. The resulting project is known as the Hume Strategy for Sustainable Communities.
The Hume Strategy is based on a collaborative approach to integrating planning across the key drivers of change at the sub-regional level. This information is used to inform development of sub-regional and a whole-of-region plans (or strategies).
The four sub-regions are based on communities of interest and relationships. The four sub-regions are:
Although outside Hume, Campaspe Shire in Loddon-Mallee Region has been included in the project's scope given its strong relationship with the Goulburn Valley sub-region.
