Apprentices make their mark

Welcome to the 10th edition of the VIPP Newsletter.

Tender volume has started to pick up at ICN. So far eight tenders have been evaluated, there are another 20 live at the moment.  There are 180 tenderers registered and 35 Agencies have registered.

A recent COAG decision has driven a revision to the VIPP Plan to enable quantification of apprentice impacts of Government procurement.

If you have questions about VIPP, please:
Email: VIPP@diird.vic.gov.au.

Apprentices make their mark on the VIPP Plan

The ICN report that the process of tender registration is flowing relatively smoothly although they've detected a need to make the details in VIPP Plans easier to complete.

The urgency of putting a revised VIPP Plan onto the web for Agencies to use has been catalysed by a recent COAG agreement on Jobs Education and Training (JET) to measure the impact of Government procurement on encouraging the employment of apprentices.

VIPP was the obvious vehicle to measure this impact.

The new Plan can be viewed on the Guidelines and Templates page or on the ICN website.

Agencies should not let the revised Plan disrupt tenders currently being processed but should look to incorporate the new Plan in future RFTs.

Annual Reporting Season comes to a close.

Thanks to all of you involved in the Annual Reporting process for VIPP. Combined Government numbers are now being analysed.

Seventeen forthcoming projects were flagged as possible Strategic Projects. DIIRD is following up on these with Departments to identify those that should be selected for Strategic treatment.

It is important that all Departments and Agencies get on the front foot with consideration of Strategic Projects ($250m whole of life) so that tender timelines are not impacted.
